This is the debut of Go Canada Selects, a series featuring key members from our network of travel experts and treasured community members offering their curated picks: captivating parks and nature trails, bustling urban hot spots, cultural and historic sites, or under-the-radar gems only the locals know about. To kick us off, Riaz Oozeer (@onmycoffeebreaks) takes us through five of his favourite Montreal cafés.

Le Grand Cormoran

This new coffee shop on Avenue Mont-Royal is a haven for coffee lovers seeking the perfect cup in an authentic setting. Its sleek yet nostalgic interior balances modern and retro design while capturing the essence of the Plateau neighbourhood. As an Oat Cortado enthusiast, they prepare this drink impeccably. The diverse menu features trendy specialty beverages along with classic options to satisfy all tastes.

Noble Café

The enduring Noble Café remains a foolproof choice for quality coffee and cafe fare. In summer, I'd suggest their Affogato dessert paired with a seat on their European-style terrace—a little taste of the Continent without the flight. With its mix of Montreal charm and classic café ambiance, Noble Café doesn't disappoint.

Micro Espresso - NDG

I recently uncovered this café brimming with coffee wisdom and excellence. Their flawless espressos enchant the senses while the friendly staff enhances the experience. Choose their standard espresso or sample a rotating specialty option for a one-of-a-kind coffee encounter.

Alphabet Cafe

Mile End's new "it" café oozes ultra-hip appeal with its top-tier drinks, service, and cool backdrops. Inside, the modern interior impresses while the terrace allures with charm. Creative drink infusions add intrigue to the menu of coffee shop classics done right. It's a neighbourhood star on the rise.

Cafe Myriade

With five locations across the city, Myriade Cafés share sleek branding while allowing each outpost's distinct personality to shine. Quality and efficiency take center stage at these community coffee bars. For a quick cup in between breaks, I fancy the downtown Montreal location—an ideal coffee pit stop.
