Where to Stay

Three Hotels in Ontario for the Wellness Lover

In Ontario, a great hotel can do more than simply host your stay. It can shape how you rest, recharge, and reconnect. As wellness becomes a defining part of modern travel, these three standout properties are raising the bar with thoughtful design, immersive spa experiences, and feel-good amenities that go far beyond the basics.

What does it mean to travel well? For many, the hotel is just as important as the destination.

And these days, plenty of properties are upping the ante, offering so much more than nice rooms and a cool lobby bar. High-end spas, curated health experiences, and holistic dining options are hospitality’s newest currency. If you’re considering a wellness-minded holiday in Ontario this year, consider one of these three notable hotels.

1 HOTEL TORONTO

The first Canadian outpost of popular eco-luxury brand 1 Hotels might be located right in downtown Toronto, but from the second you enter through the front doors, you’ll be embraced in a distinct sense of calm thanks to plenty of neutral tones, exposed natural woods, and leafy green plants. The hotel’s onsite gym, called the Field House, is one of its best features, coming complete with high-end cardio and weight equipment for self-led workouts; but those looking for something a little more intense can also book a personal trainer specializing in everything from HIIT to boxing to strength and conditioning. The Alo Wellness Club is available through the 1 Hotel app, giving guests access to trainer-led workout videos on demand, and for those who crave in-person group classes, the Field House hosts weekly flow and yoga sessions. Afterwards, head to the hotel’s 1 Kitchen for cold-pressed juices and fresh-made smoothies (add bee pollen, maca, or collagen for an extra health kick).

LANGDON HALL

Langdon Hall

Cambridge’s shining hospitality star is Langdon Hall, a Relais & Chateaux property offering rustic, country-house charm with an elevated twist. The hotel’s Michelin-recommended restaurant is renowned for its upscale, farm-to-table dining, but its spa is equally worthy of attention. Here, skincare products from luxury Swiss brand Valmont are used in an array of immersive facialsβ€”such as the Luminosity of Ice, which uses facial reflexology techniques to massage, sculpt, and smooth out the skin, resulting in a natural glow from the inside out. To take things to the next level, get a Valmont Collagen Eye Mask added to any facial. Post-treatment, relax in the spa’s hot tub or tie on your sneakers and explore the property’s 12 kilometres of forested walking trails. In the summer, hop on a bike, and in the winter, strap on snowshoes; both are complimentary for guests.

ELORA MILL HOTEL & SPA

Sitting pretty along the Elora Gorge, the Elora Mill Hotel & Spa can be found in picturesque Elora, which has been dubbed Ontario’s most beautiful village. The property is brimming with history that dates back to 1883, when it was a saw mill, and later a distillery and then a granary. Today, the boutique hotel feels like it was plopped right out of a storybook, with exposed brick and stone, swish in-room furnishings, and a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the gorge. The hotel also features a rooftop pool and hot tub, both of which are open year-roundβ€”even when it’s snowing, which undoubtedly only adds to its charm. The spa uses high-end brands including BioEffect and EviDenS de BeautΓ© for its range of facial treatments; also on offer is the Zen Body Ritual, which features a salt and sugar body scrub and a shea butter and Vitamin E body wrap. The result? Baby-soft skin from shoulder to toeβ€”and an unparalleled feeling of bliss.
