In Alberta, wellness isnβt something you have to chase. Itβs built into the experience, whether you find it in the mountain air, beside a glacier-fed lake, or in a quiet moment carved out in the heart of the city. From time spent outdoors to restorative spa rituals, these stays make it easy to slow down, reset, and settle into a rhythm that feels both grounding and restorative.
FAIRMONT CHATEAU LAKE LOUISE

Perched on the shore of the famed Lake Louiseβwhich, when itβs not frozen over in the winter, comes alive with a shockingly gorgeous turquoise-blue hueβthe Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is one of the provinceβs most well known hotel landmarks. If staring out at the lake from your bedroom window isnβt calming enough, rent an iconic red canoe and paddle out onto the lake, taking in the beauty of the towering Victoria Glacier, or partake in a guided cold dip right in the lake (yes, itβs cold, but yes, youβll feel amazing afterwards).

Itβs hard not to fall in love with this place, but 2025 kicked things up a notch when the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise opened Basin Glacial Waters: a stunning, neutral-toned, indoor-outdoor thermal bathing experience that overlooks the breathtaking lake. Here, in this device-free space, guests can truly lose themselves in the moment, enjoying a wide range of warm-and-cool progressions, including hot stone rooms, aromatic steam rooms, dry saunas, hot tubs, cold plunges, and relaxation areasβnot to mention endless teas and electrolyte drinks to rehydrate throughout the journey, and an onsite cafe for healthy nibbles. Donβt miss the Aufguss ritual for an extra dose of meditative heat.
JW MARRIOTT EDMONTON ICE DISTRICT
Stay close to all of the action at JW Marriott Edmonton Ice District, which is conveniently located right downtownβmeaning itβs within walking distance of all the cityβs big-ticket concerts, bars, and sporting events. Even amidst that urban bustle, though, the hotel curates wellness experiences that go beyond the typical. The onsite gym, called Archetype, features state-of-the-art equipment, including row machines, treadmills, and stair climbers. Beyond that, it also boasts the ultra-high-tech Archetype Somadome Meditation Pod, which combines binaural beat meditation, colour therapy, and microcrystalline tiles to heal and soothe tired muscles. A swimming pool and whirlpool, encased in floor-to-ceiling glass windows, are available for guests who want to relax; as is the Spa by JW Edmonton, which features a curated menu of Wellness Journeys such as the 100-minute The Whole You: a full-body experience that includes a scent-led breathing meditation and a personalized massage and facial, each catered to your wellness goals.
THE LODGE AT BOW LAKE

Awarded one Michelin Key by the coveted Michelin Guide, The Lodge at Bow Lake is a hidden gem of Banff National Park. Located on the glacier-fied Bow Lake, the boutique property has called the Rocky Mountains home since 1922, when it was originally opened by a Scottish mountaineer. The bright blue lake, the snow-capped mountains, the towering green treesβthe landscape itself is truly a form of therapy here. In the winter months, guests can enjoy a sweat in the cedar sauna, or can bundle up and explore the park on snowshoe or cross-country skis. In the summer, the parkβs hidden world unfurls into an endless web of hikeable terrain, each path its own wildlife-filled adventure. Thereβs something for every skill level, from the short walk up to highlighter-blue of Peyto Lake, to the more challenging Helen Lake Hike, which involves a little scrambling but results in next-level views of a cheery alpine meadow. Perhaps best of all? The hotel has no cell service and no WiFi, offering guests the chance to properly disconnect. Talk about wellness for the modern age.
