Perched between the rugged peaks of the Charlevoix mountains and the vast expanse of the Saint Lawrence River, Le Massif de Charlevoix offers a breathtaking winter escape like no other. Boasting the highest vertical drop in Canada east of the Rockies, this destination combines thrilling outdoor adventures with gourmet dining, stylish accommodations, and a vibrant après-ski scene.
Our visit to Le Massif was nothing short of magical, but Mother Nature had one last surprise: a massive East Coast snowstorm that left us stranded in Quebec City for two extra days, stuck between the airport and nearby hotels. As we waited for clearer skies, we found ourselves reminiscing about the fresh powder, mountain air, and perfect moments spent on the slopes of Le Massif wishing we were snowed in there instead.
A DOWNHILL EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER

Skiers and snowboarders will find themselves spoiled for choice with over 50 trails spanning 406 acres of pristine terrain. Thanks to an impressive 600+ cm of natural snowfall each year, Le Massif delivers impeccable powder conditions, complemented by well-maintained groomed runs and an extensive off-piste playground. Whether you’re a seasoned pro tackling the steep descents or a beginner finding your groove on gentler slopes, there’s something for every skill level.
Le Massif offers over 15 km of backcountry and alpine touring terrain for those looking to venture beyond the marked trails. It provides an unforgettable deep-snow experience with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
MORE THAN JUST SKIING & SNOWBOARDING

Le Massif isn’t just about skiing and snowboarding: it’s a full-on winter playground. Thrill-seekers can take on the resort’s signature 7.5 km sledding run, a high-speed adventure on Mont Liguori, offering an exhilarating ride with a backdrop of breathtaking scenery. Night sledding provides a whole new perspective for an added dose of adrenaline, where the only light guiding your way is your headlamp and the moonlit snow.
Prefer a slower pace? Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails wind through the serene boreal forests of Sentier des Caps, offering a peaceful retreat into nature. With routes that range from beginner-friendly loops to more challenging backcountry excursions, it’s an ideal way to soak in the beauty of Charlevoix’s winter wonderland.
STAY IN STYLE

After a day on the slopes, retreat to one of Le Massif’s cozy accommodations, designed to blend modern comforts with the region's natural beauty. From sleek mountaintop chalets to charming riverside lodges, the resort offers a variety of stays that cater to every traveller. Whether you’re looking for a luxurious suite with floor-to-ceiling windows or a rustic cabin with a roaring fireplace, you’ll find a space to unwind and recharge.
NEXT LEVEL APRÈS SKI

No ski trip is complete without après-ski, and Le Massif takes it to the next level. The lively Pub du Grand Duc hosts weekly DJ nights, transforming the mountain into a dance floor where visitors can celebrate well-spent days. With live music, warm drinks, and a buzzing atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to wrap up your alpine experience.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There’s no denying that Le Massif de Charlevoix is a stunning destination. Whether carving down pristine slopes, speeding through the forest on a sled, or simply taking in the views from a mountaintop chalet, this destination delivers an unforgettable blend of adventure, relaxation, and local charm. Bundle up, hit the slopes, and experience winter at its finest.

Getting to Le Massif de Charlevoix takes a bit of planning, but the journey is all part of the adventure. While direct flights to Quebec City are available from several major hubs, travellers should factor in the additional 1.5-hour drive to the resort. If you're coming from farther away, like the West Coast, a short stay may not feel like enough time to truly take it all in. To make the most of your visit, consider extending your trip - you’ll want extra time to soak in the scenery, the slopes, and the après-ski before heading home.
