For 2023, the MICHELIN Guide has returned to shine a spotlight on Vancouver’s high quality dining establishments, showcasing flavours and culinary experiences that offer something for everyone, from near and far. The ceremony was held in downtown Vancouver at the Fairmont Pacific Rim and invited guests were treated to music, cocktails, a delicious sampling of bites and an opportunity to rub elbows with distinguished members of the culinary community and media. Once the awards portion of the evening got underway, host Mijune Pak handed out accolades at a fast and furious pace.

A single new restaurant, Okeya Kyujiro, was selected to join the ranks of the one MICHELIN-starred restaurants in Vancouver that have garnered recognition for the quality of their food based on five criteria: the quality of ingredients used, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in the cuisine, harmony of flavours and consistency between visits. AnnaLena, Barbara, Burdock & Co, iDen & QuanJuDe Beijing Duck House, Kissa Tanto, Masayoshi, Published on Main and St. Lawrence all earned the accolade last year and continue to stand out in 2023 while maintaining their one-star statuses.

The list of MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurants in Vancouver has grown by five new additions this year, with Farmer's Apprentice, Motonobu Udon, Karma Indian Bistro, Seaport City Seafood, and Sushi Hil making their debut, each reflecting a commitment to offering outstanding food at moderate prices.

The Recommended Restaurants that have been newly added to the MICHELIN Guide are Archer, Bao Bei, Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, Elisa, Folke, Hānai, Moltaqa, Regal Mansion Cuisine, Sushi Jin, Suyo, Tetsu Sushi Bar and Wildlight Kitchen + Bar. Together, these restaurants provide a gastronomic world tour, right in the heart of Vancouver.

A notable highlight of this year's Michelin Guide awards ceremony was the inaugural Young Chef Award, bestowed upon Warren Chow of Wildlight Kitchen + Bar, recognizing his potential as a harbinger of Vancouver’s culinary future. The city's cocktail scene also received a nod with Max Curzon-Price of Suyo Modern Peruvian winning the Exceptional Cocktails honor. The award for Sommelier was presented to Kelcie Jones of Burdock & Co, while the Outstanding Service award was won by the front-of-house team at Okeya Kyujiro, further reinforcing Vancouver’s reputation for hospitality alongside culinary prowess.

With continued accolades from the MICHELIN Guide, Vancouver further distinguishes itself as a premier gastronomic destination, inviting food enthusiasts from across Canada and beyond to embark on an unforgettable culinary journey amidst the natural beauty of the beautiful British Columbia coast.
